Code of Conduct and Quality Commitment
The standards we hold ourselves to, and what our clients and partners can expect from every engagement.
Our commitment
The Economic Security Forum (ESF) advises on matters where rigour, independence, and discretion are not optional. This document sets out the principles that govern how we work, what we will and will not do, and the quality our clients can rely on.
Integrity and independence
We provide honest, evidence-based counsel. Our analysis is not for sale to a predetermined conclusion. Where a conflict of interest exists or could reasonably be perceived, we disclose it and, where necessary, decline the engagement.
Confidentiality
Client information is treated as confidential and handled in line with applicable law, including the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). We do not disclose client identities, data, or findings without explicit consent.
Rigour and quality
Every assessment, brief, and recommendation is grounded in verifiable sources and sound method. We distinguish clearly between fact, analysis and judgement, and we flag uncertainty rather than overstate confidence.
Objectivity and non-partisanship
We serve our clients' strategic interests within the bounds of law and ethics. We do not act as an instrument of any political agenda, and we assess geopolitical and geoeconomic questions on the evidence.
Responsible engagement
We decline work that would facilitate sanctions evasion, illicit transfers, or activity contrary to applicable export controls and economic-security law. Our work strengthens legitimate resilience, not circumvention.
Accountability
If we fall short, we own it and put it right. Clients and partners can raise concerns directly with ESF's leadership, and we commit to addressing them promptly and fairly. Write to info@econsecforum.org, marked 'Code of Conduct'.
